4 november 2006 in reykjavík, iceland

dates

The wedding date is November 4th, but we hope you can arrive a few days early to get over your jet lag and to see some of this beautiful country. We have events planned for the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th, also, so please keep these dates in mind when booking your trip.

please keep us apprised of your plans

After you've finalized your travel arrangements, please fill out
this form letting us know your arrival and departure dates, which airport you are flying out of, where you will be staying, and if you will be renting a car. We want to keep track of these details to help us coordinate ground transportation, as well as to let guests know if they will be on the same flight or in the same hotel as other guests.

why iceland?

Reykjavík is our favorite city, and we plan to move there one day. We thought the perfect way for our families and friends to understand why we love it so much is to have them (you!) see it first-hand.

won't it be cold in november?

Reykjavík's November weather is similar to that of NYC. It probably won't snow, but it will be rainy season, so bring something waterproof. It will also probably be very windy. The locals say, if you don't like the weather in Reykjavík, just wait fifteen minutes.

Here is the official word from weather.com:

Typical Weather for November 4, Reykjavík
Average High Temp: 40°F   Average Low Temp: 33°F

Typical Weather for the month of November
Average High Temp: 38°F   Average Low Temp: 31°F
Average Precipitation: 3.30 in.

how do I get there?

iceland Air flies out of several US airports on a regular basis: Baltimore-Washington (BWI), Boston, New York (JFK), Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Orlando. We have several suggestions for finding flights on our logistics page.

what if we can't go to iceland?

Since iceland obviously isn't everyone's bag, we plan to have a pre-wedding reception in South Carolina on October 14th for our friends and family who can't be at the actual wedding. Everyone is welcome to come to the reception, the wedding, or both. Formal invitations to the party will be sent out in August.

iceland is too expensive!

Food, alcohol, and entertainment ARE expensive in iceland, but luckily the Kronur has recently fallen a substantial amount—it has dropped 14% against the dollar just this year. It is currently the second-worst performer against American currency, behind the Zimbabwean dollar. This trend is expected to continue (Bloomberg predicts for the next two years), which is great for those of us who are just visiting. Here is more about it: International Herald Tribune article, Bloomberg article. This means we can have 14% more fun in November.
